Thinking about the Whirlwind of Life and Writing (Not Related to Hurricane Sandy)

Be aware.
Deep breaths.
Spend time alone.
More deep breaths.
Take time to be still.
Don’t stress the small stuff.

These are all things I’ve been telling myself over the post month as my life has been an whirlwind. For the most part, I like a busy schedule. Though I have to remind myself to remember to breath every now and then.

Over the past month, I did a few races… including the Runner’s World Half. (I put an album on Facebook, but haven’t had time to blog about it yet.) I also did training runs, worked out, and did yoga. I’ve attended networking events, did interviews and spoke to a number of marvelous groups from girl scouts to senior centers to nurses at West Chester University to auto  technicians at my son’s graduating class and more.

It wasn’t all work… I spent time with friends, visited my mom and sisters, took a meal to a friend, attended the opening night at a film festival and more. I even had a dream come true.

And over the past few days I’ve helped my son pack for 4 months in CA (which is proving interesting since our ideas about what/how to pack are different) and I’ve played nurse for my husband who is dealing with some intense back pain. (which is also proving interesting, because I’m not a good nurse) We’re not sure what’s going on, but I hate to see him in pain.

I haven’t blogged much recently, due to limited time, but also due to an annoying thought that works as a blockade for me. ’They’ (the blog experts) tell me I should find one focus for my blog and stick to that. So when life is not that simplistic, I struggled with writing anything at all.

But writing is what helps me process life, so busy times are when I should be making time to write. Oh, I’ve tried, I’ve sat down to write, but I end up wasting time online because I can’t narrow my focus enough.

Whatever… who are ‘they’ anyhow?

So here’s to breaking rules! This coming week involves another crazy schedule with intense things happening in various aspects of my world and I plan to write through all the complex, gorgeous, glamourous, nasty and boring parts of my life.

This week my life will include…

A Party—And not just any party, but a send off party by IM ABLE for the NYC marathon.

Running—The New York City Marathon next Sunday! (11/4/12)

Parenting—My two oldest sons moved out in August and now my youngest is moving out also.

Religion/Faith/God— I’m part of the book launch team for A Year of Biblical Womanhood by Rachel Held Evans (Rachel was on The Today Show on 10/22 and will be on The View on 10/29) I had been on a spiritual roller coaster of sorts over the past few years (wrote about some of it in BECAUSE I CAN) and I’ve been kind of coasting recently. Now as I’m reading this book, some of the issues are surfacing again.

Today is the day to remind myself to remember to breathe
and to allow myself to write through all the complexities of life.

our life has many facets so nothing wrong with mentioning all of them at one time or another….we have our Faith that guides our life and values, our family members that we love and cherish, our own personal hobbies be it running, reading, gardening ,etc and our work……we can learn from each other when we share , consult and reflect with each other.

I hate “they.” I have tried to focus things on my blog a little bit, but ultimately, I’m just write about whatever interests me, even if it doesn’t fit in the parameters of what I’m supposed to write about.

Hooray for life that is messy and varied.

Yep, I love all your posts regardless of what you talk about. Life is complex and like you said “who are THEY anyway” lol. Our blog is for ourselves, every part of our lives not just what we think others will want to read. Look forward to your coming week and hearing all about it.
