What is Saving Me… Men, Shoes, Views, and Hope
I read the post and the question, “What is saving your life right now?” Sarah, the blogger encouraged the readers to write a similar post and link to it. This could be some inspiring posts, I thought and made a mental note to check back later in the day to read them.
Then the inner dialogue began…
I should write one.
I don’t want to.
But it would be a good soul-searching exercise.
But I don’t want to!
But I’ve been cynical lately, focusing on the positive would be good.
I click over to Facebook to drown out the voices and I see this from Alise… Today I’m linking up with the ”what’s saving your life right now” synchroblog. I like Alise and her writing, so I click on the link. I love her post titled Saved, I’m inspired and now here I am…
What is saving my life right now is….
Bloggers like Alise

Shoes like these
.
Views like this

Days like this
.
Sons like this
.Others like this
Catherine and Joan, Erica, Rose and Cassie, Troy and many other fine folks
who do what they can, with what they have, where they are… because they can!
Hope like this
At one time, people weren’t as aware of all the effects
an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise had on our bodies,
Through technology and science we are more aware of the connection,
While there is still a long way to go… there is hope.
At one time, people with different abilities were considered less-than,
And words like retarded were main stream.
Now we recognize the value of each person for who they are,
And most people are sensitive with their word choice… there is hope.
At one time, the career choices for women were very limited,
Change has taken place and women have more options.
While we still have a long way to go… there is hope.
At one time it was okay to own slaves,
Or more recently, to discriminate against someone based on their skin color,
Now we recognize that each person deserves to be free,
And we value each person for their character, not their skin color.
While there is still some racism, it has decreased… there is hope.
At this time… in too many places, in too many ways,
it is considered okay to discriminate against someone
based on their sexual orientation.
Because progress has happened in the other areas,
I think changes will happen and all will be treated equally… there is hope.
And I hope it’s sooner rather than later.
Around the world the number of people living in poverty or dying from it,
has been decreasing over the past decade*.
Though there is still a long way to go… there is hope.
