Guest Post at Jennifer Luitwieler

I like my real life friends … and I also like my online friends. It’s great to meet people, connect with them via Twitter, Facebook and blogs. My life has been greatly enriched due to the online world. If possible, I enjoy meeting online friends in person and I take every opportunity to do so … but even if I never do, I still consider them to be friends.

One thing that I would have tended to lean towards believing is that when people don’t meet each other face to face … that they are not as kind to each other. And in some ways that might be true, it’s easier to post something unkind than to say it to a person’s face … but yet in many ways that isn’t true, especially for most bloggers.

I have found most, if not all, to be kind and generous in every way … always willing to help other writers out. I love the give and take … the back and forth … the all around kindness of the blogosphere.

On Friday I posted an interview with author Jennifer Luitwieler and a review of her new book Run With Me: An Accidental Runner and the Power of Poo.

Today I have a post on her blog as part of her “Why I Run” series.

Give and take. Back and forth. I like it.

Go over to Jen’s site to read how running has saved my sanity more than once. Then click around her site and get to know her, I’m sure you’ll like her because she’s a … “wife, mom, sister, daughter, friend, runner, writer, listener, thinker, opinion haver, big-mouth, instigator, competitor (mostly with myself), boot-lover, nap-taker, occasional cusser.”

Do you find your online friends to be as kind as the friends you’ve met in person?

Janet, I sometimes feel weird calling my twitter group my friends, especially around people who don’t “get” twitter or online interaction. My parents, for example, sort of cock their heads and look confused when I refer to twitter people as “people” and “friends.” As if, because the friendship is online, it is somehow not as real, or does not hold as much value. But, I’ve found that as I chitter chatter around the web, there are a lot of really cool people in the world. Just because I’ve never looked in your eyes doesn’t mean we can’t share a bond. Of course, because our books share a theme, running, and because of other similarities, I’m happy, very happy, to share a sympathetic relationship with you! Thanks for hosting me last week.

Exactly the same with my family … and some friends.
Maybe we’ll look into each other’s eyes someday … when I saw you are doing the Pittsburgh half or full marathon … I thought to myself, I’m not even 5 hrs from Pittsburgh, I could run there also … so maybe we’ll meet. And how appropriate, to meet all sweating from a run :)
