How Many People Must Die?

Loss of a loved one is difficult, sad and life-changing … and I’m sad for the loss that many are facing after 37 people were killed in a helicopter that was shot down in Afghanistan yesterday.

I’m sad for loved ones of the 6,026 United States soldiers that died in either Afghanistan or Iraq since the wars began.

I’m also sad for each Afghan and Iraqi person that has lost one of the estimated 919,967 people that have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq since the wars began.

As much as I try to see the value and benefit of these (or any other) wars, I cannot see how the positive outweighs the negative. Too many lives are lost. As I said in an earlier post, war is brutal and I continue to wish for A World Without War.

You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake.

I have to commend you for this post.  War can be a touchy subject for people especially when they have loved ones in the military.  But, ultimately, a world without war is what we should be wishing for.  This was a short but powerful post- love it.
