Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Running is one of the best solutions to a clear mind.

Warning – excuses ahead:

I had planned to run a 10K race today that I ran last month. But the weather is lousy … it’s raining and windy. I’m in a major mental funk. (TMI warning) And I have major cramps. So I didn’t go. I decided to stay home under blankets. Now I’m wondering if I should have forced myself to go … especially after reading these quotes.

Running and walking inspires a series of positive and motivational changes inside of us. – Jeff Galloway

If you run, how do you get yourself out the door on days when you don’t feel like it? If you are a woman that runs, do you run when you have major cramps?

If my cramps don’t respond to ibuprofen, I don’t run (or walk). Right now, I’m a walker but will be returning to running soon. A mental funk is one thing, but if my body is telling me to stay under the blankets, I listen. It doesn’t do it often, so I know it doesn’t cry wolf. It sounds like your body was quite clear with it’s message. Enjoy the rainy day pleasures without guilt.

Thanks Sara … helps a lot. I struggle with feeling guilty when I don’t push hard enough … so for today I’m throwing away the guilt and allowing what is to be … and making the best of it.
