Sunday Sayings – Time

For some reason, how I spend my time is on my mind today …

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us. – J. R. R. Tolkien

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. – Steve Jobs

What do you think … do you agree with these sayings?

I do very much agree with these sayings. Sometimes we get stuck in a pattern of doing what we think we should do – someone else’s predetermined path to follow or expectations to fulfill. For some of us that begins to feel misaligned but then we struggle with breaking free of it out of fear of judgment. I liked when Brene Brown, in her TED Talk, addressed the idea of numbing – we often numb instead of face our inner voice. We may hear it but having the courage to follow it is a difficult journey. There is a children’s book called The North Star by Peter H. Reynolds that fits perfectly with your message here. I bought 13 copies of that book and gave it as gifts to the children in my family – I want them to learn early to follow their own path.

Thank you for your thoughts this morning. I am thrilled to have come across your blog and to connect.
