Sunday Sayings – Loving YOU

Fashion is just one part of how the world perceives you. Put much more thought into your reading repertoire, spiritual nourishment and personal relationships than your wardrobe. An inner peace and glow will never go out of style. Even designer Kenneth Cole says, “To be aware is more important than what you wear.” - From a restaurant placemat

Love others as yourself. – Jesus

The remarkable thing is that we really love our neighbor as ourselves: we do unto others as we do unto ourselves. We hate others when we hate ourselves. We are tolerant toward others when we tolerate ourselves. We forgive others when we forgive ourselves. We are prone to sacrifice others when we are ready to sacrifice ourselves. -Eric Hoffer

Loving yourself can sound narcissistic and selfish … and it can be if lived out the wrong way and/or taken to an extreme. But truly loving yourself … should mean that you value yourself, so then you will also value others, so therefore you won’t be selfish and narcissistic. Have you found that to be true?

Are you loving yourself … so that you can love others?

Absolutely found this to be true. It’s still an uphill journey, but learning to conquer the self-loathing I carry around with me has made me a happier person, a better spouse and a better mom. Looking back I realize alot of my Dad’s negetivity and harshness is founded in his own self-loathing. He hates himself so much, he really struggles to show how much he loves others.

Sounds like your father and my father are related …

It can be an uphill journey, but it is so rewarding. One day, one step, one prayer at a time … love yourself.

Yes indeed. It is because I know WHO loves me. Therefore it defines me. “Lord help believe the truth about myself, no matter how beautiful it may be” then and only then can we truly love others. :) Lovely reminder post. Thanks. :)

Loving myself in a right way is something that I still struggle with. I mean, it’s pretty easy to do the narcissist thing, but to genuinely like me and see the good that I do can be much more difficult. But really, we can’t love others UNTIL we love ourselves.

    Great thoughts today!

      Thanks Alise.
Yes, the “genuinely like myself” thing can be difficult.
