First Monday of 2012
In a year, it will be the first Monday of 2012. Another year will have passed. Will you look back on 2011 with joy or regret?
Of course, none of us knows (not even the lady with the crystal ball or the tarot cards) everything 2011 holds. We have no way of knowing many of the things that will happen around the world or in our own worlds.
But there are a few things we do have some measure of control over. Will we move closer or farther away from the adult we thought we would be when we were a kid? Or the person we want to be able to look back on when we are 95?
You and I have control over …
What goes into our mouths - It has to go through your lips to end up on your hips!
Loving others – I do think that is a choice we make – or not. Whether it is people close to us, people we agree with – or not, people half-way around the world, etc.
Our attitude - I think most times this is under our control … as with loving others, external things/people/circumstances can greatly affect it, but ultimately we choose it. Certain things (depression, traumatic events, etc) could prevent us from choosing the attitude we want and those are the times we need to ask for help … from loved ones, counselors, etc.
Time - Each of us will have 24 hours a day, 365 days in 2011. (that’s 8,760 hours) and while some of our time is dictated for us … maybe by our job or others, we all have some hours that we have total choice over. Engage loved ones or Ignore. TV or Read. Workout or Excuse. ______ or _______.
But it’s not 2012. It’s only the beginning of 2011.
Breathe deep, relax, start where you are … with what you have.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.- Confucius
So today I’m taking steps (again) with the choices I have … for my body, mind and spirit. I am starting the eating plan in the 4-Hour Body, I am reading/meditating/journaling and I am working out.
Do you think we have control over the areas I listed? Did I miss areas we have control over? Are you taking any step(s) today to benefit your body, mind and spirit?
