Sunday Saying – from The 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss
In 2011, I plan to focus on ways to be healthy … body, mind and spirit. And since this blog is an extension of me … most of my posts will focus on the same.
My first 2011 Sunday saying is about our bodies, since our first need is to take care of our bodies … aren’t our first cries in life usually for someone to feed us?
Here’s a few thoughts from the Closing Thoughts chapter of The 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss.
Most of us resign ourselves to a partial completeness … Partial completeness can take many forms, usually in the form of self-talk like:
“I’m just not [thin, fast, strong, muscular, etc.] That’s the way it is.”
“XYZ doesn’t matter. It’s not that important.”
These are said or thought for many reasons. Oftentimes, they’re used to excuse something on the outside that people believe they can’t change.
The beauty is, almost all of it can be changed.
More important, the reason to change the physical isn’t physical at all …
The Cartesian separation of mind and body is false. They’re reciprocal. Start with the precision of changing physical reality and a domino effect will often take care of the internal.
Do you think the condition of our body and mind are connected … or not? Does how we treat one affect the other?
*And now for a disclaimer … not sure why I feel the need to do this, because you are probably an adult and you already know that you won’t agree with everything in any book, but just to let you know … along with great info about our bodies and what may or may not work, The 4-Hour Body also contains some unique, even odd ideas and language that might offend.
